Western European footprints: the overall change among countries between 1999 and 2000 was larger than in the USA, with some countries witnessing increases in their Ecological Footprint as others declined.- Norway and Italy, the European countries with the largest and smallest per capita Ecological Footprints, respectively, both had larger Footprints in 2000.
- In contrast, the Netherlands’ per capita Ecological Footprint, already smaller than the Western European average, decreased by 2.5% in 2000.
