Brazil is the third-largest soda market with a world share of 6%…
  • Consumption of soft drinks has grown 400% in the last 30 years;


  • 1991-1996: consumption of carbonated and concentrated drinks increased from 4,754 million litres to 9,875 million litres. Over the same period, their share of the soft drinks market increased from 83% to 85% (Euromonitor, 1998);


  • 1994-1999 annual per-capita consumption shot up 60%, reaching 61 litres per person;


  • CSDs dominate the market, but there has also been important growth in the market for bottled water;


  • over 90% of population consume carbonated drinks;


  • The Coca-Cola Company has control of no less than 55% of the soda market.
