dog & cat fur

About 2,000,000 dogs and cats are slaughtered and sold annually as part of the international fur trade…
  • 500,000 shorthaired cats are raised in China only for their pelts. German Shepherd dogs are the most commonly killed dogs in China as their fur resembles the fur of wild animals such as coyote or raccoon.

  • Dog and cat fur is used in a variety of products: fur coats and jackets, fur trimmed garments, hats, gloves, decorative accessories, pet toys etc.
In many countries around the world dog and cat fur trade has become illegal…
  • USA banned the import, export and sale of products made from dog and cat fur, in 2000;

  • Italy was the first EU country to implement a ban (2001);

  • Denmark, France and Greece introduced their own law in 2003;

  • Belgium implemented a ban in 2004.
