The business generated by fair trade organisations accounts for an estimated US$400 million = 0.01% of all global trade. Small as it may be, fair trade is making significant progress:- In 2003, international sales grew by an average of 43%, including 61% growth in the UK, 81% in France and 400% in Italy.
- In 2002, UK & Switzerland were the most important markets: together they assure a sales volume of 47,548 tons.
