Today 1.6 billion people have no access to electricity for basic needs such as lighting or cooking…
99% of people without electricity live in developing countries:
50% in South Asia (35% in India alone);
32% in sub-Sahara Africa;
14% in East Asia*.
In absence of new policies, 1.4 billion – or 18% of the world’s population- will still lack electricity in 2030.
* Data don’t include China.
