CO2 reductions

Energy industries are responsible for about 36% of total CO2 emissions:
  • the average coal-fired power plant wastes twice as much energy heating up the planet as it converts to useful electricity;

  • each large 1,000 Megawatt (MW) coal-fired plant typically emits 5.6 million tons of CO2 per year.
Renewable energy - energy derived from sources that cannot be depleted or can be replaced - offers prospects for the environmentally compatible restructuring of our energy supply:
  • energy generated from wind, solar, geothermal, low-impact hydropower, and biomass has low or no air emissions;

  • green power choice is now available to electricity customers in Australia, Canada, European Union, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, and the United States.
