In 2000, renewable energy consumption in the EU accounted for only 6% of its total:
5% hydro
and 1% other renewables.
The 3 top users of renewable energy were*
| Sweden | 30% | | Finland | 24% | | Austria | 23% |
In the remaining countries ‘renewables’ accounted for less than 14%, ranging from Portugal (13%) to the UK (about 1%).
