rational use

Worldwide, an average of only 50% of patients takes their medicines correctly…

In the Developing countries

  • less than 1 in 3 countries have fully functioning drug regulatory authorities;

  • 10 to 20%of sampled drugs fail quality control tests*;

  • up to 75% of antibiotics are prescribed inappropriately, even in teaching hospitals.

* Failure in good manufacturing practices too often results in toxic, sometimes lethal, products.
