disadvantaged youth

Being young, full of enthusiasm and hope for the future, doesn’t mean that finding a job is going to be easy…
  • globally, an estimated 59 million young people between 15 and 17 years of age are engaged in hazardous forms of work;

  • young people actively seeking to participate in the world of work are 2 to 3 times more likely than older generations to find themselves unemployed;

  • the informal sector accounts for up to 93% of all jobs available to young people. In this sector, wages are 44% lower than the formal economy, and protection and benefits are nonexistent.
