youth vs adults

Young people also have more difficulty finding work than their adult counterparts…
  • in 2003 the global youth unemployment rate was 3.5 times the global adult unemployment rate;

  • during recessions, youth unemployment tends to rise more rapidly than adult joblessness;

  • in Greece, in 1999, the unemployment rate for adults was 8.0% compared to a rate for youth of 30%. In Italy, the figures were 9% compared to 33%, and in the United States, 3% compared to 10%;

  • 85% of the world's youth live in developing countries where they are 3.8 times more likely to be unemployed than adults, as compared with 2.3 times in industrialised economies.
