who: the Volvo Car Corporation / Volvo Group is one of the world's leading suppliers of transport solutions for commercial use. It produces cars, trucks, buses, construction equipments, ship and airplanes components.

what:The Volvo Adventure in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is an educational programme that rewards environmental activities and the decision-makers of the future. It gives young people the chance to gain international recognition for their local environmental projects and helps supports environmental education in schools and the local community. See the registration details and guidelines on the website for more information.

how: To enter, you form a team of 2 to 5 members aged 13 to 16 years and perform an environmental project in your local community. You submit the project via the online submission tool before January 31st 12pm, 2009 deadline (CET).Projects are judged during February / March and the best projects are selected for an all expenses paid trip to Göteborg, Sweden where they can win:
1st place = 10,000 USD
2nd = 6,000 USD
3rd = 4,000 USD

Awards have been given are linked to:

bullet environmental groups such as wildlife watch groups, eco councils, energy and recycling organisations;

bullet community groups such as youth clubs, housing associations, training and family centres;

bullet scout and guide groups;

bullet New Deal schemes;

bullet primary schools;

bullet secondary schools;

bullet special schools;

bullet town and county councils.

Each group must have at least one adult supervisor.

cool for you: environmentalists scheme provides young people with an opportunity to gain recognition and financial reward for local environmental activities they are involved with. You can earn money for your school, youth group and community or environmental organization for activities you are already doing or for new activities.
