| organisation: Sustainability.TV country: Austria type of activity: edutainment |
who: Sustainability.TV, was founded as Hinterberger Mesicek Autischer OEG in 2001 as an open general partnership for professionals. It is an IT services company, specialised in the area of sustainability. The founders were Friedrich Hinterberger, Roman Mesicek and Mag. Wilhelm Autischer.
what: the offer of Sustainability.TV ranges from live internet broadcasting of sustainability-related events (conferences, presentations, workshops), documentation on the internet and/or on CD-ROMs, to extensive journalistic support.
Sustainability.TV also functions as a mediator between individual interest groups. Due to their extensive knowledge in the field, their staff are able to provide scientific support at various events and to function as cultural mediators.
why: the aim of the company is to provide access to the contents of sustainable development to a wide audience and, in doing so, to encourage communication between society, business and politics, as well as within society itself.
Sustainability.TV aims at the involvement of all (European) citizens. With the Johannesburg "Rio +10" global summit in 2002, sustainability became part of the worldwide agenda. The general aim is therefore to improve government-to-society (G2S) communication in both directions as well as to stimulate communication within society (S2S) on the issue of sustainability as required by the Amsterdam treaty and strengthened at the Gothenburg summit.
how: Sustainability.TV’s main activities are involved in development of streaming video (live transmission and video on demand, both accessible via internet), electronic news media (on the web, via SMS and the like), communication tools (chat events and discussion groups, opportunities for video-conferencing), data banks and interactive games especially dedicated to the theme of sustainable development in Europe.
Sustainability.TV allows people all over Europe to connect via video conferences and other up-to-date technologies and also to broadcast meetings of sustainability-related projects to an internal audience (password protected) and document them on websites and/or CD as ‘video minutes’ of those meetings.
getting involved: Sustainability.TV is a good opportunity to meet people who, like you, are interested in professional use of the media to feature ecological, social, economic and political aspects of sustainable development.
