who: Global Action Plan is an independent charity committed to encouraging the public to be more environmentally sustainable by working with businesses, schools and local communities. First established in The Netherlands and the United States following the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, the organisation was founded in the UK in 1993.
With a team of three staff, Director Trewin Restorick started Global Action’s first programme, 'Action at Home': 30,000 participating households supported by thousands of volunteers received 'Action Packs'. The packs offered practical tips on ways to reduce waste, cut water use, use energy efficiently and shop ethically.
what: in 2000, following the success of this initiative, Global Action Plan UK launched Ergo, a sustainable lifestyle magazine. Ergo Living provides guidance on making small lifestyle changes that produce a real difference. In every issue the quarterly magazine shows new ideas, sustainable styles and very interesting features.

The colophon provides different kinds of sections: readers’ letters, news and views; reviews about books, music, people, fashion and interior design; life's little questions and answers; a directory of where to find sustainable products and services; and a series of ‘take action today’ tips.
