FAIR TRADE

Cafédirect - a British fair-trade hot drinks company that works with 33 producer organisations in 11 countries (Caribbean, Central America, Latin America, Africa and the Indian Sub-Continent). The company guarantees fair prices for the growers’ crops according to the Gold Standard Fair trade policy and a percentage of the gross profit is put back into the producer organisations to support the development of their business. Cafédirect is one of the most ethical brands worldwide. [www.cafedirect.co.uk] recommended YXC

Fairtrade Certification - the first internationally recognised fair trade label. Don’t know it yet? Well, check the site to discover all the available labelled products (coffee, bananas, tea and more else), information on their market share, and success stories from the southern producers. Miel Maya Honing (in French) – a Belgian organisation that imports honey from Mexico and Guatemala. The Maya Honey – produced and traded following the fair trade principles - can be found in many of the fair trade shops existing in Europe. Check their website to find more about the activities promoted by the organisation and where to find their excellent honey. [www.maya.be/2002]
