company: Whole Foods Market was founded in 1980, as one small store in Austin-Texas. Currently there are 145 stores in North America. The company distributes its products in USA and Canada-Toronto.

mission: committed to sustainable agriculture, their core value is to provide natural and organic food, by both respecting the agricultural practices and the work of the farmers.

products: their products come not only from local farmers but also from all over the world, especially from small food farmers. The selection of products by Whole Foods guarantees indeed a high quality level for all the products sold. Beside the market brands of organic products, Whole Foods has a set of private labels that provide a quite wide range of choices, from bakery to body care, from grocery to meat and sea food and pet products.

Some of other private labels are to satisfy smaller niches of customers, such as the Whole Kids Organic (the organic food line for kids), the AFA-Authentic Food Artisans (the artisan producers line of authentic and traditionally made products), the Allegro Handcrafted Coffee (the artisan roastmasters work for the coffee process development).

sustainability highlight: Certified America’s First National Certified Organic Grocer by the Quality Assurance International (QAI), a certification organization that verifies the organic integrity according to national guidelines set by the US Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program.
