Amani People's Theatre (APT) - uses theatre, performance, and a multi-arts approach in its work as an advocate for peace and nonviolence. APT works at the grassroots level in local communities, at youth conferences and at peace festivals in Kenya, encouraging participants to respond proactively to conflict. CLIMB Theatre - stands for Creative Learning Ideas for Mind and Body. CLIMB evolved from a theatre company for persons with disabilities to a theatre company that uses drama techniques to teach life skills to all children. CLIMB is a ‘theatre on wheels’ with a repertoire focused on socially important issues such as violence prevention, substance abuse prevention, sexual harassment, conflict resolution, resiliency, gender differences, diversity and ecology. Creative Alternatives of New York - provides comprehensive therapeutic theatre workshops to populations with special needs. With a unique combination of theatre and modern group psychotherapy, CANY artists lead workshops and perform theater in shelters for the homeless, in family residences for single mothers and their children, in veterans hospitals, in troubled inner city schools and in alcohol rehabilitation centers. Dance for all (South Africa) - dance classes build cultural bridges, creating confidence and developing culture within the communities in which they are offered. The Dance for All project helps children from severely disadvantaged backgrounds to grow both culturally and intellectually, promoting a commitment to artistic excellence and fostering an appreciation for healthy living. Heart 'n Soul - is an artistic powerhouse. They have six performance companies, each with a different style. The musical theatre company is comprised of 14 performers with learning disabilities who work closely with four professional musicians. Leap Confronting Conflict - is a British national voluntary youth organisation. It provides opportunities for young people and adults to explore creative approaches to conflicts in their lives. Loco Bloco - is a San Francisco-based samba troupe that works with youth of many nationalities and ethnicities, ages 4-23. Most of the youth live in high-crime areas with few creative activities available to them. [www.locobloco.org]
