ENVIRONMENTAL PRIZES - GLOBAL
Alcan Prize for Sustainability - this US$1 million prize is awarded each year to any not-for-profit, civil society or non-governmental organisation based anywhere in the world for their contributions to addressing and progressing economic, environmental and / or social sustainability. The Prize recognises past performance and helps winning organisations continue to contribute to and impact on sustainability through their ongoing activities. Goldman Environmental Prize - allows individuals to continue winning environmental victories against the odds and inspire ordinary people to take extraordinary actions to protect the world. It is given each year to six environmental heroes - one from each of six continental regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Island Nations, North America and South/Central America. Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement (global) - administered by the University of Southern California, is the premier award for environmental science, energy and medicine conferring great benefit upon mankind. Through their work, Tyler Laureates have focused worldwide attention on environmental problems by their discoveries and the solutions that resulted. The annual award is US$200,000. UNEP Sasakawa Environment Prize - since 1984, the prize has been awarded annually to individuals who have made outstanding global contributions to the management and protection of the environment. Volvo Environment Prize - is awarded by an independent foundation, which was instituted in 1988.
