Banksia Awards - since their inception in 1989, the Banksia Awards have earned a reputation as the most prestigious in Australia. The purpose of the awards is to recognise and reward individuals, community groups, businesses and government organisations for environmental excellence and innovation as an example for others to follow. Brower Youth Awards (USA) - the most prestigious recognition of environmental activists ages 13-22. Earth Island Institute established the Brower Youth Awards in 2000 to honor David Brower and to recognize and celebrate a new generation of young leaders following in his footsteps.The Brower Youth Awards are the only national environmental awards for youth activists that carry with them a substantial cash prize. China Environment Prize - the Chinese Environmental Protection Foundation established this prize in 2000 for honoring and encouraging the individuals and organisations that have made great contributions to and gained the prominent achievements in the cause of Chinese environmental protection. [www.cepf.org.cn/en_leading/prize.asp] P3 competition (USA) - provides grants to teams of college students to research, develop, and design sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. EPA and its 40 partners from industry, NGOs, and other government agencies, offer this student design competition to respond to the scientific and technical challenges in moving towards the goal of sustainability. The P3 Award is directed at undergraduate and/or graduate teams in colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions in the US. Interdisciplinary teams including representatives from multiple engineering departments and/or departments of chemistry, architecture, industrial design, business, economics, policy, social science, and others are strongly encouraged.
