Citizenship and participation in community life are the pillars of this room. All over the world many people still lack access to goods and services just because of their class, race, gender, age... Here we talk about them and for them! So in the FACTS & FIGURES section, you’ll find data on labour access - [youth & employment], [disabled people], [gender discrimination] -, political participation and representation - [elections & voting], [women in parliaments]. But, fortunately, all is not totally black... and at local and global levels civil society is organising itself and networking to move towards a more tolerant and inclusive world. The room swarms with initiatives about these questions. Take a glance at the DEP’T STORE and check out projects such as the BBC [video against racism] or [books about woman] from developing nations... Want to see what other young people are doing in their own communities? In the JOBS section you'll find a collection of organisations that work to build a world where all people can live free and dignified lives, such as [action without borders] and the [global fund for women]; or organisations that can help you volunteer abroad. Get inspired! In the TRAINER’S ROOM, learn how to organise [campaigns against animal testing] as an example of acting together and becoming empowered citizens. Amuse yourself playing the [election game] in the TEST & PLAY corner. What are you still waiting for? Discover the facts and figure out what you can do to make your community and this world a better place to live in! |
