How to fight terrible diseases, develop clean energy for all, create solutions to tackle hunger, pollution, climate change, and so on? science & technology can play a major role, of course. The only thing we ask of the scientific community is to keep us informed and to take the precautionary principle into account. We also need to overcome the increasing digital divide: a friendly and accessible information & communication technology has to be guaranteed to everybody. But at the same time, many people worldwide still lack access to energy, preventing them from breaking the poverty cycle. Substantial changes are made possible not only through high-tech but also low tech, simple, clever solutions: innovation & creativity are key words here! Already existing alternatives demonstrate that we can start today building our real utopias...
