company: Lush
country: UK
products: hand-made cosmetics & toiletries
distribution: worldwide

Founded in May 2003, Lush quickly established a reputation as a 'cool company' among urban young (and less young) people worldwide. Its soaps, lotions, body milks, etc. - hand-made from natural ingredients - have a 'basic' aspect and can be assembled/packaged following the customer's personal taste: a successful formula, which has also allowed the company to reduce packaging materials without diminishing the 'personality' of its products.

sustainability highlights: at Lush, they test the cosmetics on human volunteers and have a special range for sensitive skin types. "We are against animal testing of cosmetics and our aim is to make eco-friendly cosmetics that have no side effects," explains Saed, manager of a Lush outlet in Dubai.
