who: Reciclar T3 is a non-governmental organisation located in Brazil but operating worldwide. Its mission is to work with recyclable materials such as plastic, metal, glass and paper to create objects for everyday-life necessities, such as clothes, accessories, furniture and others.
what: besides offering courses, workshops, seminars and other kinds of awareness creating events, they work with research centres and schools and carry out projects with local communities to provide them with better incomes and work alternatives. why: Reciclar T3 aims at finding solutions that contribute to waste reduction and increasing human consciousness about waste and consumption, by using industrial solid refuses and domestic recyclables as raw materials. results: well-designed objects – from clothes to accessories, furniture and interiors, etc. - have been created so far with the idea of simultaneously joining function and aesthetic value. Led by these principles, Reciclar T3 achieved international recognition at the Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany, where it won an award in the Pavilion of Projects for being totally integrated and practising sustainable development.
