who: The Prize is an annual, international environmental and sustainable development award (US $ 100,000). The Prize was established in 1997 by the Norwegian author Jostein Gaarder and Siri Dannevig.
what: The Sophie Prize is an international award (US $ 100,000), for environment and sustainable development, awarded annually. The Sophie Prize is established to inspire people working towards a sustainable future.
how: The Sophie Prize will be awarded to an individual or an organization that, in a pioneering or a particularly creative way, has pointed to alternatives to the present development and put such alternatives into practice. Nominations must be received no later than November 1st 2008. Candidates nominated by themselves or by their organization will not be taken into consideration (you can learn more about the nomination guidelines on the website).
